Marital BlessingsHow It Feels To Get Married![]() As you begin that walk down the aisle you enter a state of mind we call "Wedding La-La Land." Here's how some Wedding Goddesses experienced those precious moments (Photo of Denise Cante-Tanz and Jason Tanz by Arlene Sandler/ “It was such a touching moment. When I held Steve’s hand and looked into his eyes, I felt so calm. We were just gazing into each others eyes and mouthing to each other how great we each looked. I had the biggest grin on my face for the entire ceremony. People kept telling me how excited I looked and you could just see it on my face.” - Teresa who married Stephen on July 5, 2003 “Our ceremony included a comical story of how we met -- that was cute and made everyone laugh -- and a very special poem. Tears rolled down Billy’s cheeks continuously. I was giggly, laughing and smiling throughout, until I had to place the ring on his finger. When I took his hand and started repeating the vows, I started to cry. It came as such a surprise to me that he was at that moment becoming my husband and that is when I let out the happiest tears.” - Anna, who married Bill on August 25, 2002 “It was only once I was standing next to my husband and the ceremony began that my focus shifted to the ceremony and I was overwhelmed that the moment had finally arrived.” - Amy, who married Brent on May 18, 2002 “I was jittery at first, but seeing Terry was a comfort and a thrill. I was just very happy when the ceremony began. I cried a little. The tears felt like a natural part of a very moving day. Overall, I felt very present and happy, like there was no where else I’d rather be in the whole world. There was one moment during the ceremony where I realized all I had gone through in my life to get to this point. It’s a little hard to explain. It was all very moving.” - Jessica who married Terry on November 15, 2003 “I was grinning like an idiot all through our vows. “ -Sophia, who married Zvonko on October 11, 2003 “We both cried but Xingmin started it when he was reading the vows he wrote to me. I remember everybody laughed and I thought ‘shouldn’t that be me crying?’ And then I cried to. We didn’t try to cover it up. It was the most wonderful feeling.” - -Katerina, who married Xingmin on January 6, 2004 “I love a good cry. Tears for me make me know I am connected and feeling it all. I had several moments like that.” - Susan, who married Bob on July 3, 1999 “When the ceremony began we were both feeling a little emotional and when Andy was reading his vows, he did start to cry a little and I remember really squeezing his hand and trying to show him that it was okay.” - Jodie who married Andrew on July 1, 2002 “All I could think of was I didn’t want to cry too much … and that I wouldn’t be able to hold out the whole ceremony without kissing him on the cheek – he looked so perfect. - Randi, who married Christopher on August 9, 2003 “I was crying the whole time and felt like I was dreaming.” -Lori who married Kris on July 26, 2003 “”I cried and he cried a bit. I wanted to hold it together and found myself laughing out loud throughout the ceremony – such a joyous event. I let all show through and we reveled in our expressions of the moment. Many people told me afterward they had never felt so included in a ceremony. I think that is because we were up there being real and ourselves and expressive in the moment, so everyone else felt they could be.” -Summer, who married Tony on September 20, 2003 “We cried a lot. They were totally tears of joy and we did embrace them. The only reason I fought tears at all was I worked so hard on my make up and want to blow it. I couldn’t stop the tears though. Ironically, my favorite pictures of us are with tears in my eyes.” -Courtney, who married Ray on October 26, 2002 |
